I drew this little comic up alongside my "Hollow Smile" fanart piece, but I didn't finish it until today! I was going to explain the joke of this comic, but I realise it's funnier this way, even if you're not a fan of both Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion or Dead by Daylight. I found myself in an odd trend where I'll think of a comic, illustrate it, pour my hopes into it, but it isn't until I finish it that I realise "Hang on, I don't think people will find this as funny as I thought it was.". I suppose that's what happens when you aren't just me, but also a fan of two separate videogames; one that racked hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, but had a remake that sold only like 4,000 copies on Steam. The other game meanwhile, being popular, but consistently labelled as "the most un-fun game ever created" by its own fans. They are insane by the way, please stray away from them and me. Needless to say, I'm unsure if this will capture a big audience lol
Typically when I colour backgrounds, I save the lineart for last because, well, I suppose it reflects how I see environments in real life; everything blending together, but just sturdy and structured enough with the help of a few lines.
The text-work was a bit of a pain because I wanted to use the same font that Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion uses for its in-game text (The font name is called "Lunchtime Doubly So", by codeman38. Their website is at the bottom of this post.), but instead of downloading the typeface and using it, I went out of my way to draw each individual letter coming out of Spooky's stupid (platonically) little mouth, simpluy because I really like when text is drawn in a comic. It messes with readability a bit, but I'm working on that.
I'm unsure if I frequently mention this, but when working on a big illustration, I often draw little doodles or more ideas for more illustrations. Some people (everyone i think) call it "multitasking" or "jolting ideas down for future ideas" (literally what it is). I, however, think of it as a "perpetual-motion-machine" for my brain (no it isn't). Sometimes I'll also have ideas laying around that I may or may not return to, it all depends on if I'm bored enough to revisit them, feeling nostalgic, or an idea grabs my heart hard enough to make me finish it, like this one did!
