Beet Territory

I finally produced a finished piece of one my new characters; Beet! I'm still ironing out the kinks of her design and what aspects of it I prefer over others, so some stuff is still subject to change! For example: the considerably concerning amount of side-boob showing in her outfit.

 

The side-boob comment sounds odd, but it actually matters here! I also wanted to use this opportunity to see how far I could go in making the design "suggestive". Whenever I draw a more suggestive illustration or pin-up, I reach my limit when I get uncomfortable with what I draw, and I kinda found it here!

 

When designing Beet & Olyve, I want find the right balance of attractiveness, coolness and cuteness, in other words: sugar, spice and everything nice!

 

This piece also served as a BIG reminder to STICK to my ASPECT RATIOS when drawing. Look at how much better composed this 3:4 version of the artwork is! Notice how Beet is closer and more centred compared to the original canvas drawing? This is so much better. Gosh I need to really get a grip on my artwork screen resolutions man.
